Each year the jewel in Gift for Life's fund raising crown is Party for Life, an exciting industry event held during the New York International Gift Fair®. Party for Life takes place on Sunday, January 29, 2012, at the landmark Boathouse in Central Park. Guests experience quintessential New York City culture and cuisine while bidding on an impressive array of hospitality experiences and luxury items in the silent auction. Additionally, guests are invited to celebrate Gift for Life's Chuck Yancy Lifetime Achievement Award honoree George Kacic, Trailblazer Award honoree Brandwise, and Bert Tonkin Gift of Giving honoree Jenny Hammons.
Your support is critical now more than ever, with 1.2 million people living with HIV in the United States today, and 60,000 more Americans becoming infected every year. Gift for Life Industry Achievement Award
The term "Industry Achievement" is a big one and Gift for Life is proud to announce that they have found someone worthy of the title. Congratulations to Michael Aram, who Gift for Life honored at the Gifts & Decorative Accessories 60th Annual Retailer Excellence Awards in August. Aram is an American artist working primarily in metal. After studying fine art and living as an artist in New York in the late 1980s, he discovered the rich metalworking traditions of India. Today, Aram calls New Delhi home, where he creates designs ranging from tableware to furniture, sold in galleries and specialty stores worldwide. Appropriately, in Hindi, "aram" means "gently, with peace, with love and care." Echoing that concept, Aram has succeeded in making high quality work that is as personal a statement as its appeal is universal." Michael's unique designs are complemented by a deep sense of abiding humanity," said Leslie Nathan-Street, chair of the Gift for Life board. "We are proud to honor a creative leader who personifies the best qualities of our industry.""I am honored to accept this award from an organization whose mission of care continues to support and inspire," said Michael Aram.
